Tori Amos

In a strange way Tori's been my best friend over many years and countless albums. She always knows how to hit the message straight home, she's not afraid to talk about an issue, and she's always there for me however I my might feel. Gotta love this gal, she's somethin' special.

Nirvana

I've always had this uncanny attraction to musicians who later take their own lives. Kurt Kobain was one of the first. His music and emotions are intense, honest, sometimes angry, sometimes pained, and always enduring. His music spoke to me during a time in my life when I needed to know I wasn't alone. A decade after his death the music and soul of Nirvana continues to live on.

Elliot Smith

I've always had this uncanny attraction to musicians who later take their own lives. Elliot, who once lived here in Portland, has a depth of feeling, pain, passion, love, and loss in his music that few others can capture. I have cried and laughed to his music. My favourite song of his is and will always be Miss Misery.

Regina Spektor

It's very rare that I like a song the first time I hear it and even more rare that I like an entire album. Regina's style combines accents of Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Bjork, and others and she really knows how to break through the cliche and say things in a new way I both admire and enjoy.
