PROGRESS NOTES

June 5, 1991

The patient was seen for 30 minutes. We elected to cut the session short because he has two finals tomorrow and it did not seem the best tie to discuss deep issues. He continues to present with a fairly depressed affect, despite stating that he feels better and is sleeping well. He has now applied for 15 jobs without getting them and I suspect that his depressed appearance is interfering with his ability to get work. I would like him to continue on his current medications, nortriptyline, 100 mg at night, with Bethanechol, 10 mg as needed for dry mouth. I also am strongly pressuring him to start a physical exercise program. He is reluctant to do this but agreed to consider the possibility of bicycling, although I could not convince him that he should use a helmet if he did. I will see him again in two weeks.
