Supertracks was a company that came and went as part of the Dot Com boom in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Our goal was to make music legally available over the internet. I don’t get the sense the company as a whole had clear goals and we certainly had our struggles given that Napster was allowing people to illegally share music while bands like Metalica were screaming loudly in the halls of congress (they didn’t seem to understand that music would be shared on the internet one way or the other–something Steve Jobs picked up on years later!). While I never had a sense the company would last long (it did survive longer than most of the Doc Commers) it was a good run and I had a lot of fun and had some great friendships. Everyone at the company was creative and most knew how to pick up an instrument or two. Needless to say, the bands playing at our company parties were comprised of employees, many of whom you will see in these pictures. What wonderful, interesting, and vibrant times those were. I miss the job and the people!
