"A good example is the best sermon." - Thomas Fuller

This picture was taken on Wednesday August 29th at a rest stop just south of Salem on Interstate 5. It was an uncomfortable 97 degrees out and we stopped to rehydrate, stretch our legs, smoke, and use the restroom. Sometimes such a stop takes no more than ten minutes: park bike, take off helmet, pee. Other times it may take longer: park bike, take off helmet, meet biker from San Jose and talk about traffic, lane-splitting, biker's groups, and software engineering (it turns out he was a Quality Assurance Engineer).

My two week vacation has provided few, if any, opportunities to sit down and write. From the moment I awake to the time head hits pillow I've been on the go with hardly a moment for personal reflection much less capturing those reflections here. And so here I am, Labor Day weekend, with a last few days of relaxation ahead of me, catching up on my reflections.
