Someone in your neighborhood, who’s crashing at a friend’s house, say a guy named Bob, about twenty houses down or a quarter mile away, drives to the mall with an AK-47, kills ten people, then returns home to eat macaroni and cheese and watch Netflix.
That afternoon, the police, not knowing where he lives, but knowing he has a friend somewhere in your neighborhood, send in ten tank driven SWAT teams that go door to door, bashing them down, indiscriminately beating and arresting everyone they encounter (while making sure to destroy as much property in the process). They even (unintentionally) kill a few folks, some of them children and babies.
Do you consider this an appropriate response?
