Walking has never entirely made sense to me, at least in terms of walking as a past time. Sure, I’ve done it, but my personality has always been tuned to “having a point,” that is, if I’m on a walk there’s got to be a point beyond the act of walking itself, there’s gotta be a end point or result. Throw a camera in my hands and city streets under my feet and suddenly “just walking” can turn into hours, or days, or exploring, looking, interacting, and being, in a way I can only describe as meditative, peaceful, joyous, intriguing, and all around fun. I may walk the same streets I’ve seen a hundred times before but what I see, the photographs I bring home, will always be different. And the people I meet, how wonderful! Here’s to Austin, an awesome city for the feet and the photographer!
